This association gathers students around different humanitarian missions.
For the ‘Téléthon’ (fundraising event for genetic diseases) they sell wood objects and cakes for the benefit of myopathy stricken children.
In collaboration with the Nantes association ‘Brin de causette’, some students participate in the distribution of breakfast to homeless people.
THIS ASSOCIATION NO LONGER EXIST IN 2010
Other short-term missions are conducted such as collecting books or bottle caps (to finance wheelchairs), organising shows for pensioners, exhibitions in the school to increase students awareness of issues like child soldiers (in partnership with UNICEF)... Mr Patrick GAY’s association ‘Les enfants de Majunga’ makes use of the students’ skills for the making of school furniture for children of Majunga, in Madagascar. Moreover in 2006, a partnership was signed between ‘Les Pantins du Bois’ and ‘Initial B.B. Burkina’ (I.B.B.B.).
I.B.B.B. is a state-approved association which financially helps three orphanages in Burkina Faso. ‘Les Pantins du Bois’ have contributed to the creation of a mini dairy close to one of these orphanages. This dairy will enable the feeding of the babies with fresh milk in a more economical way than buying it in shops.
The mini dairy will be run by young people of Burkina Faso whose training is financed by I.B.B.B. This project is a sustainable development initiative and is sponsored by ‘Les Pantins du Bois’ which have organised a fundraising evening. This event consists of an arts exhibition, an African meal and a West African music concert.
Finally ‘Les Pantins du Bois’ actively contribute to the humanitarian challenges of the students as far as they are able.
